Familiarity with the Gospel can dull our sense of awe at who Jesus truly is. Through the healing of the man with the withered hand Bruce invites us to recover the impact of encountering Christ.

Jesus’ healing shows us his desire to restore what is broken in human lives, and calls for a response of faith - what areas of our own lives need God’s restoring touch.

Jesus acts out of deep compassion. Bruce challenges believers not to lose this compassion, even in a world of constant need, and to remain open to being channels of God’s love in everyday life.

In his authority, Jesus confronts sickness and evil without hesitation, demonstrating that the kingdom of God is breaking into the world through him. As the rightful King, Jesus exercises complete authority over all opposing forces.

While Jesus brings the kingdom, his people are called to live as light in the darkness, participating in God’s ongoing work in their communities.

Motivated by compassion and grounded in Jesus’ authority, believers are invited to live out a faith that brings light, healing, and hope to those around them.
